Barcelona Architecture Walks en la Semana de la Arquitectura: Fent camí a la Mar

Como ya sabéis del 20 al 26 de Mayo se estará celebrando en Barcelona la Semana de la Arquitectura. Una experiencia pionera que tendrá lugar en diferentes escenarios de la ciudad y que está organizado por el Colegio de Arquitectos, el Ayuntamiento de Barcelona y la Fundación Mies van der Rohe, en colaboración con Barcelona Building Construmat y ArquinFAD.

La Semana de Arquitectura quiere acercar la arquitectura y el urbanismo de calidad a sus ciudadanos. Por eso, organiza una serie de rutas guiadas que descubren aspectos y fisonomías urbanas poco explicadas o insospechadas.

Desde Barcelona Architecture Walks tenemos el placer de organizar uno de estos Itinerarios Urbanos FENT CAMÍ A LA MAR. Se trata de una ruta que nos acerca a la ciudad desde la perspectiva del mar y que pasa por las murallas romanas, la plaza Sant Jaume, el Moll de la Fusta, el mercado de la Barceloneta y Las Casas de Pescadores de Jose Antonio Coderch, entre otros.

FENT CAMÍ A LA MAR, es un Itinerario Urbano a pie, de la mano de Barcelona Architecture Walks.

Punto de encuentro: Colegio de Arquitectos de Catalunya (pl. Nova, 5).
Domingo 21 de mayo de 2017 a las 11 h.
Lunes 22 de mayo de 2017 a las 18 h.

Estamos muy contentos de poder formar parte en un evento tan importante y poner nuestro grano de arena, para ayudar a acercar la arquitectura y el urbanismo de calidad a los ciudadanos. De hecho, llevamos años haciéndolo con nuestra gran pasión, las Barcelona Architecture Walks. Así que para nosotros es un placer compartirlo con todos los que queráis venir a disfrutar, con este bonito paseo pensado especialmente para la Semana de la Arquitectura.

¡Esperamos que os animéis a pasear con nosotros o con algún otro itinerario, pero recordad que las plazas son limitadas!

Sin duda Barcelona tiene en su arquitectura un patrimonio de indudable valor. La arquitectura es la base del espacio físico en el cual se desarrolla la vida de los barceloneses y por eso la Semana quiere servir para reforzar este vínculo imprescindible entre arquitectura y ciudadanía.

A lo largo de la Semana, los ciudadanos se pueden apuntar gratuitamente a los itinerarios urbanos organizados por el Colegio de Arquitectos de Cataluña en colaboración con diferentes entidades. Las rutas, a pie o en bici, están dirigidas a público adulto y tienen el objetivo de explicar la renovación urbana que está teniendo lugar en la ciudad.

El resto de itinerarios que se ofrecen son:

Los patios del Eixample, con Bicicultura. En bici.
Sábado 20 de mayo de 2017 a las 10 h.
Martes 23 de mayo de 2017 a las 16 h.

Arquitectura contemporánea por Les Corts. A pie.
Sábado 20 de mayo de 2017 a las 11 h.

Ribera i Born, amb Artchitectours. A pie.
Sábado 20 de mayo de 2017 a las 15 h.
Miércoles 24 de mayo de 2017 a las 18 h.

Sant Andreu: de la agricultura y la industria al alta velocidad, con El Globus Vermell. A pie.
Sábado 20 de mayo de 2017 a las 18 h.
Miércoles 24 de mayo de 2017 a las 18 h.

Vila de Gràcia, con Artchitectours. A pie.
Domingo 21 de mayo de 2017 a las 15 h.

Para inscribirte, envía un correo electrónico a [email protected] indicando: nombre, apellidos, teléfono (para avisarte en caso de urgencia) y profesión. Puedes inscribir hasta 2 acompañantes, aportando también sus datos.

Las inscripciones a los diferentes itinerarios se harán según riguroso orden de inscripción. Los itinerarios con menos de 10 personas no se efectuarán. En caso de estar plenos los grupos, se mirará de organizar un segundo grupo en cada caso, y hacer las visitas simultáneamente.

“Perfect way to start our time in Barcelona”

We had a great time on our Gaudi walk with Ricard and learned a lot about Barcelona’s history, and of course Gaudi. I highly recommend this walk if you are planning to visit Gaudi’s main sites. It gave us a great foundation of knowledge. I think the pricing is a great value for what you get. If I visit Barcelona again, I would like to do one of the other walks!

“Understanding Barcelona through architecture”

I went only a Barcelona Architecture Walks tour with Joan recently. It was a brilliant way to understand Barcelona’s history and development. It helped me to appreciate the invaluable contribution Gaudi and some of the other modernisme architects made to Barcelona. I would heartily recommend the tour, even if you’re not deeply interested in architecture.

 “A great way to understand Barcelona’s incredible buildings”

We loved our Gaudi walk with Jordi, who was very friendly, knowledgable and interesting to listen to. We learnt so much about how the city of Barcelona was formed and developed, with fascinating insights and context for appreciating Gaudi’s work. You don’t need to know anything about architecture to enjoy this walk, there’s something in it for everyone.

It was great having an architect as a guide. Jordi was able to answer our questions and he clearly loves unravelling the mysteries of the buildings of barcelona. Next time we visit, I’d love to do the future walk.

If you’re staying in Eixample near Diagonal and Passeig de Gràcia (try Hotel Omm) you’ll be able to wave hello to two of his most popular landmarks in the city centre, Casa Milà and Casa Batlló, on your morning coffee walk (Satan’s Coffee Corner is a pleasant 20-minute walk away). To delve deeper, join Barcelona Architecture Walks for a tour with a knowledgeable architect who will tell you everything you need to know and more about Gaudi’s famous and lesser-known works across the city.

“Gaudi Tour for 2”

“We met up with Joan and after getting the correct pronunciation of his name right, finishing up our coffees, and getting the lowdown on what the big protest was the day before, we headed off.
That is the beauty of a small private tour. You can quiz the guide and probably get an inside view of contemporary life as well. This helps a lot when your partner is also a political tragic
The tour was terrific. Gaudi and his contemporaries influences and design philosophies were explained clearly and accessably. Now when I look at the buildings I see them not just as a building but those sometimes subtle arrangements that the architect has worked into the design.
It also gave us an understanding of the growth and expansion of Barcellona from Roman times. And the role of the borguoise in its development.
A highlight of this visit!”

“I’m Italian and I graduated in architecture between Sardinia and Rome with two experiences abroad in Turkey and Greece and a specialization in Restoration and Rehabilitation.
Architecture fascinated me from the beginning because it is a vast and nuanced field, a complex issue situated halfway between mathematics and art.

I like to tell stories and my thesis focused on the use of the walk as a way of knowing and rehabilitate a wide portion of the Roman suburbs: that is one of the reasons I enjoy being part of the BAW project, because it is an issue I like to investigate and experiment in.

Currently I divide my time between Architecture Walks and teaching, in addition to push through a few personal projects.

During the walks I lead for the BAW team I like to explore different aspects and fields to create an exhaustive overview of the topic, and I always try to adapt the talk to the public I have. I feel that explaining architecture in simple words and following clear concepts is very important to reach a wide public, and I do my best to involve people with my passion.

I am fascinated by the world of Imagined Architecture and Architectural Representation as ways to awaken latent perceptions about the city and give life to alternative ways of making architecture.

The architecture is above all an effort of imagination that spans the creative process and leads us to imagine different worlds, with the final aim of finding a way to turn them into reality. “

Therefore, I propose itineraries with a great deal of information on these issues and making leaps forward (forward) and backward (to the past), which allows to understand the context of each building and why its main features.

Not interested in memorizing facts but understanding the why of things. From this premise, raise itineraries to make people reflect and provide context everything that visit. So when I do not get much in architectural details or technical, but, however, I rather focus on the history, culture and society, both local and universal.”

Barcelona & Urbanism Walking Tour

Today we want to share with you a critique at Tripadvisor of which we are particularly proud.
This is what our walker Lily wrote after our BARCELONA & URBANISM walking tour with Miguel Angel.

Urbanizing the rural, ruralizing the urban.

”This tour is perfect for urbanists visiting Barcelona who want more than the typical tourist version of the city. I am a doctorate student in architecture and urban planning and had previously signed up for Gaudi walking tours in the city, but I highly recommend BAW over all others you will be able to find downtown.

I went on the Barcelona & Urbanism walk in early July 2016 with Miguel, and I left feeling like I could look at the city through a new lens. Miguel had deep insights about Barcelona’s urban fabric — from ancient times to modern times. We spoke at length about Cerda’s master plan of the city, and how it both has and has not been realized in present times. Many of our stops were in peaceful public courtyards and parks that tourists rarely see because they are not as well known, and the final stop included a beautiful panoramic view of the city from above. Miguel was also able to share some of his research materials with me afterward, which I will use to refer back to for much time to come!

Usually, walking tours are a form of broadcasting information from one person (a guide) to many (a group of people). However, this tour feels like a discussion, a conversation that allows for questions, shared observations and insights. It is one of the best decisions you will make in Barcelona if you go.”

Barcelona Architectural Walks, Antoni Gaudi

Today we want to introduce our  BARCELONA & GAUDI walking tour. A perfect start for your Barcelona stay!

Around the Modernism Route, we paint the sinuous dream that took  Antoni Gaudí from his concern into the social, to his absorption into the divine, to finally become “the last cathedral’s builder”.

We are gonna walk around the figure of Antoni Gaudi, the most known Spanish architect of all the times and perhaps the dreamiest of all.

First of all, we will discover the Barcelona who received and exalt him as the standard of Catalan Modernism, then we will fly to New York for some moments, to finally draw some lines of his Greatest Work, The Sagrada Familia.

We will finish our walk speculating about his real intentions building the forever futurist Casa Milà.

“If you can work using the record, instead of imposing, you are checking things from the outset”. Marks, inscriptions or lines “accepting the results that appear along the way.

The trick is always the same, trying to ensure that the outline of a monastery has the same importance as the outline of a point in time when everything was destroyed, or a path that passes through the middle here, as if all those things had the same importance.

When I think for example in a wall I like to spend time in all the possibilities that this element can or could contain. The possibility of a niche reveling its depth or the structure, the buttress, the columns that make possible the wall…their qualities and singularities.

Geometry is as important for me as a tool of articulation in specific situations, because it lets me forget, and do less recognizable things” And repetition until the shape is free.”
