Barcelona Architecture Walks Spring reviews!

We were a corporate group of 10 people that enjoyed this walk together. It was nice to get to know Barcelona in another way through the walk “ReThinking Cities”. The insight to the history and how things are planned and developed up until today was very interesting. To learn about the philosophy for the area today and how they consciously put together technology, architecture elements, economic and environmental systems and binding together the old and the new is inspiring. Our guide Jordi shared his knowledge and passion for his profession and we had a great time together. I would absolutely recommend this walk and especially if you have some interest in architecture and engineering.

I really enjoyed my walk! It was what I was looking for: very insightful, highly interesting and definitely different than the normal tourist walk!
I also got so many ideas for my next trip to Barcelona!

My husband and I spent a gorgeous afternoon on an architectural walk with Ricard last week and I thoroughly recommend that others share this excellent experience. Richard, an architect by training, was full of rich, historical stories that allowed us to see the city through a different lens. We did the Barcelona and the Sea tour and I would definitely book one of the others the next time we are in the city. Really great personalised tours.

Our BAW 1. Enric Miralles gets great reviews aswell!!!!

5 of 5 starsReviewed 26 November 2014NEW

My wife and I took the Miralles architecture walk with Miguel last friday. We had our doubts whether to go for the Gaudi walk or the Miralles one, and whether to go for a walk/tour in the first place, as we don’t usually have the patience to be walked around. After the walk I can easily recommend it even to people who don’t like tours/walks. It was such a great experience at many levels. Miguel really used the walk and the sights/stories to tell the story of Barcelona and the story of citizen involvement/engagement. It made us think and even connected to our line of work on “Self-organized Systems”, “Decentralized Control”, “Engagement” in organizations. We had a great time. The Gaudi might naturally be the more popular walk in Barcelona, but I think Miralles is a hidden gem and the location straddling the gothic and ribera/born quarters is great. I’m looking forward to taking another walk in barcelona next time I’m around and will try to find similar walks in other great cities. Thank you Miguel for a first intro to the world of architecture walks. Highly recommended!

“Catalan Genius – The Architecture of Barcelona”
5 of 5 starsReviewed 29 October 2014NEW

I am a leader for Ramblers Worldwide Holidays and my Group of 18 persons had a fascinating half day tour exploring the architectural gems of Barcelona. Our guide, Miguel Angel Borras, is an incredibly enthusiastic and passionate Architect, and he brought to life the fascinating development of Barcelona. His knowledge of the various Architects whose genius has created the many unique buildings and life style of this wonderful city is unsurpassed. He speaks excellent English and delivers the subject with style and panache. An excellent tour.

Another great BAW review freshly out of the oven…close to 100!

“A great morning discovering the genius of Antonio Gaudi and Barcelona architecture.”

5 of 5 starsReviewed 26 October 2014NEW

The thing that stood out about this guided walk in comparison to other guided tours was that our guide Ricard was an architect himself with a depth of knowledge and passion for his subject that could not be matched by the typical guide.
The walk took 3 hours and covered the development of Gaudi’s practice and its relationship to the rebuilding of the city from the late 19th to early 20th century. My wife uses a walking stick and we were a bit concerned about keeping up but the walk was well paced with some opportunities to sit and rest while Ricardo talked about various buildings and their relationships to the surrounding architecture.
Overall great value and the perfect start to a Barcelona visit.

Sometimes a Tripadvisor Review makes you Cry with joy!

5 of 5 starsReviewed 30 May 2014NEW

It was surprisingly difficult to find an architecture tour in Barcelona that was NOT operated by a touristic company. Finally, I found Barcelona Architecture Walks, which, like so many genuinely good tours, seems to rely entirely on TripAdvisor and local word of mouth.

Miguel was a fantastic guide. He has a strong point of view about the city and its architecture, and is not afraid to share his perspective with guests–a refreshing change from the cookie-cutter tours that often seem more concerned with rushing you through each site than providing accurate, interesting information. Don’t underestimate the value of a tour operated by a trained, practicing architect (he also had great food recommendations).

In a city full of tourist traps, this tour receives my highest recommendation.

“Best tour in architecture tour in Barcelona!”

5 of 5 starsReviewed 12 April 2014

“This architecture tour was amazing. Given by a professional architect, Ricard’s passion for the city and its architectural landscape was infectious. We had the opportunity to learn about Barcelona’s history and the architectural trends that developed throughout it. The highlight was definitely learning more about Guadi, and his growth as an architectural genius. A must do tour during your stay in Barcelona!”

“wowed us!”

5 of 5 starsReviewed 17 April 2014

“Miguel was extremely easy to communicate with via email regarding the tour and payment. He met us at our meeting spot and proceeded to teach us about the period of modernism in Barcelona’s architectural history. We got a very good background of how the city was developed and how it spread out over the years. He showed us courtyards, backs of buildings and special city blocks that taught us with our eyes what he was explaining to us. The last part of the tour focused on gaudi – casa mila and casa batllo. It was perfect because we scheduled our tickets for the sagrada familia a couple hours after our tour with miguel, so everything was fresh in our minds.
Miguel is a local architect who clearly is passionate about barcelona and it’s architecture. He was personable and seemed and all around great guy. You really should book a tour with him!! We travelled with our two sons (11 & 13) and they were equally entertained. thanks, miguel!!

The 75th review at Tripadvisor of Barcelona Architecture Walks is here!!!!

“Beautiful, interesting way to get to know BCN”
5 de 5 estrellasOpinión escrita el 24 febrero 2014 NUEVO

“I booked the Gaudi tour for my family – two parents around 60ish years old, my husband and me, and my sister (around 30ish). Before we arrived at the tour, I was a little worried because none of us know anything about architecture. But, my fears were unfounded because Miguel really understood his ‘audience’ and did a fantastic job explaining the beauty of the architecture of Gaudi to us newbies. His genuine passion for the subject is very engaging and we also learned a lot about how the architecture and urban planning of a city can effect the vibrance of it. We went to the Sagrada Familia right after this tour and really got a lot more out of it thanks to what we learned from Miguel. A great experience and I highly recommend it!”
