Best city tour ever.
This was by far the best city tour I’ve taken in decades of travel. I’m an urban planner and really appreciated seeing the city through the eyes of an architect. Carmen was terrific. Take this tour – you won’t regret it!

Great tutorial on Barcelona’s urban evolution
We enjoyed this Barcelona & Urbanism tour! It was more like a private lecture with Pia, an academic who really knows and enjoys her stuff! The tour provided a broad overview of Barcelona’s evolution, from a urbanistic point of view, giving valuable context to the other sites, museums, etc. that we visited during our stay in this vibrant city. We also visited places showcasing how Barcelona continues to evolve and deal with its urbanistic challenges. Be ready to walk and bring water!

Amazing tour
Pia is an amazing guide. She provided us with a review of the history of Barcelona going back to Roman times, how the city first developed in the Barri and then expanded out, and how social conditions and architectural evolution impacted the design and development of the different districts and buildings. This tour then puts into perspective a fascinating collection of different buildings–some new, some repurposed factories, and urban planning.

Wonderful Tour!
My wife and I had a great time with Jelena on the architecture tour! She didn’t just talk about Gaudi, but gave us a lot of background on the city and modernism writ large. We also saw incredible work from Gaudi’s teacher and other contemporaries.

Jelena was super knowledgable and answered all our questions. If you’re into Barcelona’s architecture, you should definitely check out this tour!

200% recommend!!!

200% recommend to everyone. Definitely a big cherry on top of the “regular” Barça tourist stops. Maybe do this first before seeing the other stuff to get a solid foundational knowledge. Pia did such a wonderful job!!! Someone mentioned the tour is “a graduate-level class in architecture and history”; I think that is a very very high praise and I agree with it 100%. We learned a TON of information, and having a map of Barcelona to compare with really helped solidify those concepts. Now the way the city looks makes so much more sense, and I can’t walk past those buildings noticing the details!

 

Fascinating insights into Gaudi and Barcelona

This was a fantastic tour and exceeded my expectations. It could have been a dry look at Gaudi’s life and works but it was so much better. From the foundation of Barcelona to the present day we were shown the changes in planning and layout and the influences on Gaudi’s buildings, including social changes. As an engineer I appreciated the care taken to explain the engineer principles leading to what we see. I would have no hesitation in recommending this tour and will book another one next time I am in Barcelona.

Barcelona Architecture Walks (and Pia) are the Best

Pia led 4 of us on the Barcelona & Modernisme tour, and she was the best. The tour was extensive and covered both historical Barcelona architecture and every facet of the Modernisme era of architecture.

Pia is an architect, engineer and professor, and used her extensive knowledge that provided us with a comprehensive insight into the when’s, how’s and why’s of Barcelona architecture. And she was able to answer any questions we had, no matter how seemingly unrelated to the subject. Plus, her English, Catalan and Spanish is fluent, so she was able to act as guide, translator and go-between for all of our needs.

This was by far the best, most comprehensive, interesting and fun of the many guided tours we took during our 6 days in Barcelona. We would highly recommend Barcelona Architecture Walks for all tours having to do with architecture in Barcelona.

An excellent, informative and stimulating tour – highly recommended
We took the “Barcelona and the Future” tour, which began at Placa de les Glories – a new area of Barcelona for us. To learn about the future, you first learn about the past (particularly the city plan), and we gained a much better understanding and appreciation of Barcelona as a result. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, informative and energetic. This is a terrific tour, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to understand the “built environment” of Barcelona.

Interesting insight into Barcelona and Gaudi
This was a my first visit to Barcelona and I had read so much about Gaudi and Barcelona and decided to do an architecture walk. I felt it was a wonderful way to get introduced to city of Barcelona, its buildings and its architects. Though I am not an architect, I thoroughly enjoyed the walk and do recommend this walk.

Excellent Tour
While in Barcelona for a two week holiday in late October, my partner and I booked the Barcelona Architecture Walk focusing on the works of Gaudi. Having done architecture walks elsewhere we appreciate the knowledge base the tour guides bring to the experience. This was the case for our Barcelona tour. Christina, our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The pace was appropriate to cover the selected buildings. The groups are small enough to allow all members to hear the conversation. It was an excellent experience. Interestingly, on our tour we ended up in the middle of a Pro-unity demonstration of thousands of people. Christina navigated us through the throng of people, carrying on the tour with little disruption. At the same time she was able to provide us with an insider view on the events of the day. It was an fabulous experience.
